Group Captain Arscott (then Squadron Leader Arscott) was Officer Commanding 57 Squadron in 1954 shortly after the squadron had re-equipped with the English Electric Canberra. A period of significant change for the 57 Squadron (and, indeed, the entire RAF), the transition to a jet-powered bomber force marked a major step forward in the RAF’s capabilities. In 1999, Dick took part in an interview, where some thoughts about his time in the RAF from 1949-59 were recorded for posterity.
