It is with great sadness that the Association has learned of the passing of Derek Carruthers who became a Centurion earlier this year. Derek flew as a Wireless Operator with 57 Sqn in 1945, towards the end of the War, having previously flown with 624 Sqn flying Stirlings from Maison Blanche in Algeria, on SOE-sponsored missions over southern France.
The funeral service for Derek will be held at St Mary’s, Church End, Great Dunmow, Essex CM6 2AE at 2pm on Wednesday 26 April 2023. Donations in aid of St Mary’s Church (cheques payable to ‘St Marys PCC’) may be sent to the funeral directors:
