Just before Christmas, I received the following email from our good friend in Belgium Dirk de Quick:
Friends, Yesterday it was 71 years ago Lancaster DX-P of 57 Sqn crashed in Lierde. Today, 22/12 we remembered the crew of Lancaster DX-P at the monument. Some words were said by the Mayor and wreaths were laid down. Photos will follow later. Merry Christmas and Happy 2014 to all of you. Dirk

Come rain or snow, the community of Lierde commemorate the loss of DX-P every year on the nearest Sunday to the crash date (21 December) and at the exact crash time. We will be forever grateful for our friends in Belgium for keeping the memory of our fallen heroes alive.
The local press carried a story and photos of the commemoration
