It is with great sadness that the Association has learned of the passing of Tom Lockett. Tom served with 630 Sqn as a Mid Upper Gunner, completing 36 operational missions. After the War he enjoyed a long and highly successful career in the police force, during which time he was awarded the George Medal for bravery when tackling an armed robber.
Tom was a stalwart of our Reunions and once again this year was there into the small hours of Sunday morning ‘holding fort’ and later on Sunday afternoon at East Kirkby. He had an almost photographic memory for events and people – much of which is captured in the Tom’s life story ‘For King Queen and Country’ which was published earlier this year and is featured elsewhere on this website.
Tom celebrated his 98th birthday in late September. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts are with his family and very many friends at this time. RIP Tom
Details of funeral arrangements will be posted here once they are available.
