The Association was represented at Jim’s funeral on Monday by myself and David Houghton.  A number of veterans organisations were also represented as was the Chief of the Air Staff.  Jim’s son, Neil, gave a moving Tribute to his Dad and a bugler from the RAF Central Band played the Last Post during the Committal.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Alma, I only met her just once. It was an honor and a privilege to meet her. I listened intently to her descriptions of life at East Kirkby in those wartime years! She will be missed by all.

I’m sure that would have plenty of memories to share Howard.

That is very sad news Tony that one of our few has passed. RIP Len.

Whilst reading your tribute I took a quick look at my Dad’s log book and on 19th July 1944 Robert Gordon Winter flew his first sortie in DX “T” LM.579 as a MU Gunner to Thiverny Supply Dump and may have bumped in to Len, now they can have a catch up

Thanks Tony for letting us  know the passing of Flight Lieutenant Steve Stevens. A sad message. It is so hard to see the remaining original crew members of 57 Squadron leave us.   Steve was a wonderful individual and I was honored to be able to sit and chat to him several times. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was able to tell me about the lifestyles that he and other crew members like my father spent during those wartime days.

My condolences to his family, and know that he was well loved by the members of the Association. He will live on in our memories!

Our Sincerest condolences to Helen and Family. We met David at the 2002 Reunion. He was there as were his Mom & Dad, Ray & Barbara.  Cheryl and I first met Ray and Barbara at the 2000 Reunion, our first of many. We found out that Ray was a F/E on my Dad’s Crew. My Dad, Arnold McTrowe was the Mid/Upper Gunner.  Phil Ainley was the Pilot.  Les Bradbeer(NAV) and my Dad , Were the only 2 Canadians on the Crew.

    Regards. Bruce & Cheryl McTrowe
