Following in my father's footsteps (he served 5 years in the RAF, WWII), I joined the RAF as a boy in 1961, aged 15 years & 4 months. 1966 to 1970 I served on 57 Squadron, at RAF Marham, then in the Radio Bay through 1973. Served a total of 12 years before purchasing my discharge in 1973. Decided that I wasn't compatible with big government socialist Britain, plus there were no decent jobs. So, in 1974, I departed for Texas, USA, the land of opportunity.
My RAF training held me in good stead as I worked my way up in the geophysical exploration industry. Eventually, managing a major international geophysical exploration company which manufactured instrumentation and provided data acquisition and processing services. I was based at various times in Lima Peru, Tel Aviv Israel, Perth Australia, Singapore and Texas.
In 1989, I formed my own geophysical services company which currently provides services worldwide to major oil & gas companies.
More recently, served for 6 years as President of our local Chamber of Commerce.
In 1996, we purchased our current home, a ranch in the rolling hills of Texas, overlooking the Brazos river. In keeping with my aeronautical heritage, It includes a hanger and a small airstrip. Hobbies include; collecting British sports cars and flying gyroplanes.
